Enabling Better Business in the Outdoor Industry.

B-Corporation
Certification

B-Corporation certification is the aspiration of many businesses, especially in the outdoor sector. The certification is a globally recognised standard, that helps organisations improve the way they operate across a number of categories including governance, environmental, workers, customers and more.

The overall goal with B-Corporation is to both elevate a business to a new standard of operating, whilst also creating a level of accountability going forward, to ensure those good standards and practices are continued in the long term too.

The process for certifying as a B-Corporation business starts firstly with a comprehensive impact assessment, which aims to understand where your business currently sits on their standards but also set a baseline for improvement. The benchmark is 80 points, that need to be achieved on the impact assessment in order to move onto the validation stage.

The validation stage is where you are assigned to a member of the B-Labs team, who will verify and validate the information you have submitted in the initial assessment. Once they are happy you have met their standards, you will then be formally invited to become a registered B-Corporation business and gain access to their esteemed community of likeminded individuals and businesses.

We recommend that an environmental impact assessment is carried out before starting your B-Corporation application due to the fact that data is required relating to energy consumption & emissions reduction targets as part of the application.

"Going through the B-Corporation process with the Pinnacle team has opened my eyes to what being a sustainable business really means. It's so much more than just your environmental emissions, and being guided through that process to now being a B-Corporation pending business has been invaluable."
